St John Ambulance Cadets
We are St John
Ambulance Cadets. We meet on Mondays in Tiverton from 6.30 p.m. - 8
p.m.
We learn first aid and caring skills; radio-communication; social
organizing and some drill amongst other things. At 13 years old, we can
go away for a weekend to learn how to be a St John Ambulance Cadets leader, or how to train
others. We hope to achieve the Grand Prior Award after a lot of hard
work, and this is very helpful when we go to university, college or other
work.
We can go to public duties with the adults; Motocross; Horse events;
Concerts; Rugby etc. We also help with younger children at Activity
days.
St. John is in many countries all over the world. Tiverton is
twinned with Birzibuggia in Malta, and we have sent equipment and uniform
to them.
We have been learning about the St. John Eye Hospitals in Jerusalem
and Palestine, and how the Doctors and Nurses work with people of other
races and religions.
After initial training, we wear a uniform of black trousers,
beret and tie, and a white shirt when on duty. If your would like to
know more, please contact:
