Moors Youth Football Club
Moors Youth Football Club is made up of a committee, all volunteers and a team of managers for the individual teams. It is always welcome to new members at all times and actively looks to promote the ideas and aims of its membership. The Club trains throughout the summer at Amory Park on a Thursday and Friday 6.30pm to 8pm, and through the winter at The Leisure Centre again on Thursday and Fridays from 6 to 8pm. We also train on a Tuesday at this facility from 7 to 8pm.
Beginning on the playing fields of Two Moors Primary School The Moors FC has certainly grown in stature and strength over the past twelve years to what it is today.
The club now provides football for well over 200 players in age groups ranging from U7 right through to U15. The club also has, and is looking to further develop girls football with teams across the age bands. Essentially we look to provide for all ages and abilities no matter what culture or creed. This year the club has undergone some structural changes in order to attain Youth Footballs highest award the Community Standard Charter. This will be achieved in the next few weeks. Moors now has some 17 Level 1 qualified coaches, of which 3 have gone on to achieve level 2 and an age appropriate coach. We also have a goalkeeper coach, all of which are trained in first aid and safeguarding issues as well as being CRB checked.
In 2010 Moors FC launched it’s every child matters strategy in which we aim to develop not only their sports prowess but also to build, other fundamental qualities such as perseverance, tolerance, attitudes, honesty and so on and so forth. Part of this plan was to open the club up into the community and we undertook to run a Primary School tournament each year and to forge links with the senior school in order to facilitate and utilise their students into providing referees etc as part of their sport NVQs. Recently mothers of our players have started to train and have even formed their own team, enjoying football and keeping fit. All of this is now up and running and proving to be very successful. Also last year we formed a link with Elmore AFC in order to bring local football from U7 right through to adults, or Eaglets to Eagles as we say. This link has proved to be very successful and gives Moors a home at the Horsdon ground and Elmore an U16 team and future players, both clubs for many years have been very like minded in both their approach and passion for local based football.
