Tiverton Town Majorettes
Tiverton Town Majorettes is a not-for-profit youth organisation for children and young people within Tiverton and its surrounding areas.
The organisation provides dance and socialisation opportunities across a range of age groups and disciplines, from the ages of three up to twenty-one. We have majorettes with a range of abilities and interests and ensure that they are all valued and included as part of our group. We set routines and moves to music using twirling batons, maces and poms. We also have social and fun events such as quizzes and parties as well as doing a range of fundraising activities including sponsored events. We provide support to all of our majorettes and the only costs incurred by them are weekly subs of £3. All uniforms and equipment is funded by the organisation to ensure that all Tiverton Town Majorettes are able to take part and be included.
We have received support from many organisations. These include the local council, awards for all and Devon Community Foundation. We are also a member of the Don’t Stop Me Now Scheme. Our organisation operates with extensive policies and a full constitution as well as a safeguarding officer and inclusion officer. We have representatives of parents, volunteers and the children and young people on our management committee.
We engage in a lot of local events, displays and carnivals as well as competing on the south west circuit during competition season. We have over 40 children and young people and 15 volunteers who train, support the majorettes and do other jobs and tasks.
We are a fully inclusive troupe with protective policies and procedures.
Our Mission Statement is the following:
Support & enable the development of young people in order that they may realise their full potential in shaping their own lives.
Promote the social & economic inclusion of all young people so they can contribute to, influence & bevalued as part of their communities & of society as a whole.
